Getting Ready for Winter
The days are getting cooler and the nights quite chilly with temperatures dipping into the 20’s for a few hours just before sunrise. I enjoy the fall weather and it’s a reminder that the winter season is just weeks away. I’m sure many of you are thinking of your upcoming winter ski/snowboard trips plans and might ponder just what we’re doing at Snow Valley to get ready for winter.
The mountain is abuzz with activity this time of year. Even more so this fall as we’re putting the finishing touches on nearly $1 million in improvements for this winter season. I’ll share more details on those improvements in an upcoming blog post.
The crews are currently mowing the mountain and making sure the runs are ready for snowmaking. Snowgun maintenance continues as does testing of our snowmaking equipment. Our snowcat fleet is being prepared for use as is our fleet of rental ski/snowboard equipment. Menus are being worked on for our food and beverage venues and we’re preparing for the opening of our two newest venues.
Those are just a few examples of what is going on. Be assured we’re ready to make snow and will do so as soon as we see a promising window of opportunity. In the meantime, take advantage of the final weekends of our mountain bike operations which conclude October 20.
